Year 7 Sporting Achievement

Kearsley Academy has made a great start to the football season across KS3 and KS4 competing against other schools across Bolton. The Year 7 football team have made a winning start to the league and have been on a fantastic cup run ensuring that a semi-final game was up for grabs!

Kearsley started off the game in an excellent manner and went 1-0 up in the first 30 seconds, showing off their excellent run of recent form. It was an emphatic start to the game with chances available for both sides. Sharples levelled before the break with the game being extremely tight and the semi-final still up for taking for both sides. During the second half the students who represented our school gave everything to the game and were rewarded for their passion, enthusiasm and determination as they went 2-1 up against a very good Sharples side. Unfortunately, with the last kick of the game Sharples scored a late equaliser taking the game to penalties. Kearsley were one penalty away from reaching the Semi-Final after some brilliant penalty goals but the opposition keeper made an outstanding save to deny Kearsley from reaching the last four.

Eventually Sharples won the penalties and progressed to the next round.

We want to say how well the Year 7 football team have done this year in the cup and that reaching the quarter final was an outstanding achievement.

Our students have shown great dedication, courage and energy when representing our school and should have their heads held high with pride. Football fixtures are continuing and all teams in their respected leagues have a great chance of succeeding to bring some silverware to Kearsley Academy.

Onwards to the rest of the season!
